Qlik Sense February 2021 – What’s New?

BI vendor Qlik has rolled out the first Qlik Sense release for this year, which again includes some exciting optimizations and new features.

Qlik Sense February 2021 brings new visualization capabilities, as well as enhancements in other areas, such as analytics and user experience.

Enhanced analytics

For example, Qlik Sense February 2021 once again optimizes the Augmented Intelligence functionalities within the Insight Advisor. Among others, search-based analysis has been improved by adding the ability to analyze change over time. In doing so, Insight Advisor now creates multiple charts for a single analysis type.  That is to say, it responds to analysis of data between two date periods with a combination of charts.

In addition, visual charts generated by Insight Advisor Search now display narrative insights and interpretations of the data through natural language generation.

Insight Advisor Chat has also been improved. It now offers follow-up suggestions for further analysis and insights, as well as contextual  improvements while exploring data sets.

Visualizations and Advanced Authoring

Visualizations continue to be a major focus in Qlik Sense’s further development . As part of this, the new release has once again been equipped with several optimizations and new capabilities in this area.

For example, the new version includes a new grid chart that provides an extremely effective way to visualize measures across two dimensions. There is also a new video player, which allows videos to be embedded and played directly in an app.

A new feature also offers the use of master measures in expressions, which  considerably improves productivity and control over Advanced Authoring. Qlik Sense also adds the ability to show or hide sheets based on specific conditions to target specific groups of users within an app, providing them with a customized user experience.

Optimized user experience

Users can make various adjustments for an improved user experience once more. For example, the hub landing page can now be customized to specify the data collections that are most important and to always have them ready to hand. This includes the ability to visually manage the order in which these are displayed on the page via drag and drop.

Furthermore, Qlik Sense February 2021 includes a standardized toolbar that enables consistent navigation, interaction, structure and language. The in-product “connect and learn” feature also continues to provide information on product-related news.

New features in Qlik NPrinting

As part of the February release, the reporting platform NPrinting has also been revised. For example, audit data can now be exported in JSON format via a new API and the JWT configuration now supports the optional “Audience” attribute. In addition, QlikEntity reports created from Qlik Sense objects can be exported in SKV format. The performance of connections to Qlik Sense has also been improved.
