Qlik Sense February 2023 – What’s New?

BI provider Qlik has released the new version for Qlik Sense on Windows. Qlik Sense February 2023 again includes innovations in the areas of Augmented Analytics, visualization and connectivity in particular.

The February release is the first client-managed version this year and includes, among other things, the new dashboard object NL Insights, optimized design options for visualizations, control of chart animations and new connectors.

Augmented Analytics innovation

Qlik Sense February 2023 includes the new NL Insights dashboard control, which displays AI-generated insights in natural language on selected dimensions and measures. In doing so, it can be configured to generate narratives for any context by selecting dimensions, measures and applicable analytics types. In this way, NL Insights provides, for example, insights into the overall context of a sheet or descriptions of individual or a group of visualizations.

Optimized visualizations and dashboards

With the new release, also in the clientmanaged version, the font style for titles and subtitles can now be changed in various charts. The new “General” tab offers new customization options for font, font size, font color and highlighting. The “Chart” tab also lets you define the formatting of scroll bars and custom headers.

In addition, a custom background color or image can now be added to the waterfall, histogram, gauge, KPI, boxplot and distribution plot chart types. Any image from the media library can be used for this purpose. It is also possible to select a single background color or a color by formula.

When changing data in a Qlik Sense visualization (e.g. by making a selection), the transition from the old to the new view can be represented by chart animations. In the future, these can be enabled or disabled in the app settings. Animation control is available for bar charts, pie charts, scatter plots, funnel charts (Visualization Bundle), grid charts (Visualization Bundle) and Sankey charts (Visualization Bundle).

Another new feature in the area of visualizations is the ability to specify the number of visible bubbles in scatter plots. These can now be configured to display up to 50,000 data points. If the chart contains more than 5,000 bubbles, the bubbles and their respective labels are no longer displayed outside the limits.

Connector expansion

Qlik Sense February 2023 now allows ServiceNow data such as incidents, requests and case records to be included in analytics via a new connector. To ensure that only authorized users can access this data, the new connector includes security options such as OAuth and SSL.

In addition, Qlik Cloud now has two new connectors, Amazon S3 Metadata V2 and Amazon S3 V2 Web Storage Provider, which provide more security than the previous versions of the connectors.
