Business Central 2024 Wave 1: Automate country of origin for an item tracking code in Intrastat reporting

The 2024 spring version of Business Central once again offers optimizations in finance and accounting – this time also in the area of Intrastat reporting.

With Business Central 2024 Wave 1, it will be possible to automate the country of origin for an item tracking code in Intrastat reporting. This will enable the country of origin to be included in item tracking. This process increases productivity as the country of origin for items in sales documents is automatically taken from corresponding purchases and does not have to be selected manually. The corresponding information is later used for Intrastat reporting.

Previously, Intrastat used the country of origin from the item master for the report. But it is not uncommon for the same items to be purchased from different countries. If the countries of origin differed, a manual adjustment was necessary. The new Intrastat solution in Business Central improves the use of the country of origin by making it possible to set up a country of origin in an item tracking code.

With the new optimization, the country of origin for items in sales documents thus automatically inherits values from corresponding purchasing documents based on the item tracking code (e.g. the lot number or serial number). This eliminates manual intervention and potential errors. The information makes Intrastat reporting faster and more accurate.
