Within the latest spring version, Dynamics 365 Business Central has been equipped with a new function that offers the possibility to record the impact of business processes on the environment (e.g. CO2 consumption) and prepare them in reports for further use. The solution forms the basis for compliance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
With the new, easily expandable functionality for sustainability reporting (ESG reporting), extensive sustainability information (qualitative and quantitative as well as future-oriented and retrospective) can be recorded and reports created. It supports, for example, the planning of measures to reduce emissions.
Finally, the function ensures compliance with the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) of the EU, which requires companies to report on the impact of their activities on the environment and climate. Small and medium-sized companies will also be affected by the requirements of the extended CSRD in the coming years.
With the new function in Business Central, “Sustainability Journals” and “Recurring Sustainability Journals” can now be posted for data recording via corresponding sustainability book sheets. Various emission categories and subcategories can be defined and used to record emissions.
By posting the entries, corresponding sustainability entries are created which can be used for reporting. In addition to the CO2 footprint, Business Central also logs other emissions.
The new function enables the productive and complete recording of environmental impacts emitted by companies. Sustainability entries can be recorded at the same time as day-to-day business processes. This eases the tracking of the companys sustainability targets in future, check whether they have been achieved and initiate appropriate measures if they have not. As an introduction, the feature lays the foundation for sustainability reporting. For the future, extensions to its functionality and additional automation have been announced in order to increase the recording of sustainability entries regarding enhanced productivity.
