With the last spring release, Dynamics 365 Business Central was equipped with a new function that makes it possible to record the impact of business processes on the environment (e.g. CO2 consumption) and prepare them in reports for further use. These have now been enhanced with several new features and improvements in this year’s fall release.
Business Central 2024 Wave 2 not only offers a new role center “Sustainability Manager”, but also the possibility to optimally track sustainability goals in the company and to add sustainability certificates for items and vendors.
Convenient navigation through the sustainability manager role center
In future, a separate “Sustainability Manager” role center can be set up in the company for sustainability reporting, which can be used to access all important data on the emissions of the organization. Here you will find sustainability-related information, charts of recorded emissions, purchasing documents with emissions-related items and the degree to which sustainability goals have been achieved.
Role of the sustainability manager
The new role increases operational efficiency by providing quick access to all key environmental and compliance data. It also makes it possible to monitor sustainability initiatives in real time and make timely adjustments to comply with legal standards and the sustainability goals of the company.
By reducing the time spent on data retrieval and analysis, the new function therefore allows the company to focus on important tasks such as strategic decision-making and continuous improvement. This leads to more sustainable business practices and increases the overall performance of the company.
Achieve sustainability goals
In Business Central, users now have the option of providing scorecards with information to track sustainability goals.
Start and end dates, baseline values and actual and target values per issue can be defined for the goals. This makes it easy to track progress in the implementation of sustainability plans.
Record emission values in purchase documents
In the spring version of Business Central, reported emissions from vendors still have to be entered manually in the sustainability book sheet. If you receive information from your vendors in future about the emissions generated by the items, this can now be conveniently maintained in the purchase documents. Sustainability items are automatically generated when the purchase documents are posted.
Sustainability certificates for items and vendors
Environmentally friendly products are more in demand than ever. It is all the better for a company if it can prove that the products it manufactures or purchases have been produced sustainably. Recognized organizations provide sustainability certificates for this purpose after auditing the company.
If a vendor or an item has a sustainability certificate, the relevant information can be easily recorded in Business Central so that it can be called up at any time. Vendors who have a specific sustainability certificate can then be easily found using the filter function. When creating sustainability certificates, various details such as name, area, standard, issuer and value can be entered.
The new Business Central autumn version 2024 contains further optimizations in the area of sustainability reporting. More information on these will be available here on our blog shortly.
