Qonnections 2019: Qlik increasingly relies on Multi-Cloud and Augmented Intelligence

QlikAt its annual customer and partner event Qonnections, BI provider Qlik announced, among other things, the further expansion of its Multi-Cloud and Augmented Intelligence offering. Thus Data Literacy in companies will be further increased and supported in the best possible way.

Qlik therefore continues to pursue the approach of “3rd Generation BI” – a combination of integrated analysis functions, the use of Augmented Intelligence and Data Democratization. Data should be able to be used anywhere in any company and made available via extensive (cloud) options. Human intuition and machine intelligence should go hand in hand via integrated analysis functions. The relevant extensions were already partially implemented with the April releases and will continue to be published with the coming June versions.

Extensive and flexible deployment options

The last version of Qlik Sense Enterprise, which was released in April, can therefore be fully deployed in the Qlik Cloud Services environment as part of Qlik’s multi-cloud framework. A deployment via Kubernetes in a public or private cloud is also possible. Some new functions also simplify the management of users, content and licenses in different environments (e.g. Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud platform).

Business Central: Optimized workplace through various customization options

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business CentralDynamics 365 Business Central offers different possibilities to customize the workplace and optimize it for personal requirements.

Every user has different work routines when using Business Central and prefers a different handling and navigation. To make working with the solution for everyone as easy, convenient and productive as possible, Dynamics 365 Business Central includes several customization options. With the recently released April version, the possibilities have been enhanced.

Optimized action bar

Among other things, it is now possible to adjust the layout of the action bar on each list, worksheet, card or document page and thus fit it to the tasks, roles or departments that are relevant for the respective user. For example, unimportant actions or groups can be moved, hidden or re-ordered.

New features in Qlik Sense and NPrinting with the Qlik April versions

Qlik SenseSpring is here and comes with the new releases of BI provider Qlik. The new versions include cross-product innovations as well as new features and improvements for the visualization software Qlik Sense.

In addition to some advances in the multi-cloud-architecture, the introduction of the new AI offering Associative Insights and an optimization of the dual-use-option of QlikView and Qlik Sense, the April release wave also offers some new functionalities for Qlik Sense and NPrinting.

Improved Multi-Cloud-Deployment

With its April releases, Qlik introduces new Enterprise SaaS deployment capabilities that give customers more flexibility on their journey into the cloud. Among other things, users will be able to deploy Qlik Sense via hosted cloud services as well as their own cloud infrastructure (via “Qlik Sense on Kubernetes”). All deployment options – including Qlik Sense Enterprise for Windows – can be used cohesively within a multi-cloud-framework.

Dynamics 365 Business Central: April ’19 version officially available

Microsoft just launched the April ’19 versions of its business solutions – including Dynamics 365 Business Central.

In addition to some previously announced new features that make working with the software easier and more productive, the April release also includes an optimization of performance, stability and security. Furthermore, Microsoft is concentrating on the development, cloud and update capability of the ERP system in the new version. The possibility of designing the user interface in the Web Client has been expanded as well as the functionality in the new development environment Visual Studio Code.

No more Windows Client in autumn

With the upcoming October version, the classic development environment (C/SIDE) and the Windows Client will finally be completely abolished – the April ’19 version will thus be the last release with the classic development environment and the Windows Client.

prisma informatik publishes NAVdiscovery 2.01

With the NAVdiscovery Toolbox developed by prisma informatik, the BI solutions Qlik Sense and QlikView can be quickly and easily linked with Dynamics NAV or Dynamics 365 Business Central as well as Dynamics CRM and many other data sources. The release of the new version 2.01 NAVdiscovery includes some new features.

The new functions in NAVdiscovery 2.01 concern in particular the grouping function and the task administration. In addition, the release contains new features regarding the SQL SELECT statement, the option to generate NAV links automatically and a new test mode.

By setting up recurring tasks, NAVdiscovery processes (e.g. Full Back-up, Qlik Script Export, updating grouping elements) can now be executed cyclically and automatically.

Double Grouping
Two tables can now be combined as data source in a grouping.

Editing the SQL SELECT Statement
NAVdiscovery 2.01 enables the processing of the SQL SELECT statement for queries on SQL level and the direct selection of the data on database level.

Test Mode
By activating the test mode (test of “where”-condition and “select”-command) it is possible to test loading conditions without changing the original query.

Neutral Grouping
By using group elements, you can create your own table in NAV with individual, self-defined contents and use it for grouping functions in NAVdiscovery.

NAVdiscovery 2.01 is available for Dynamics NAV 2016 and newer versions. In addition to the new version of the Management Suite, we are planning to release further connectors for Qlik Sense with the Dynamics 365 product family in the next weeks. We will keep you up to date!

Intelligent Edge for Dynamics NAV

Microsoft has the aim to simplify and optimize the handling of everyday business processes using various cloud-based productivity and analysis tools. With Intelligent Edge, customers with on-premises solutions such as Dynamics NAV now have easy access to the same cloud services available for Business Central.

Previously, customers with on-premises installations haven’t been able to easily connect their solutions to the intelligent cloud. With the latest release of Business Central, Intelligent Edge was introduced for several on-premises Dynamics products, including Business Central (On-Premises). Dynamics NAV 2018 will be supported with the upcoming April version.

The intelligent network edge facilitates the replication of the on-premises Dynamics solution with the cloud version of Business Central to access Microsoft Flow, PowerApps or Machine Learning.

Once the connection has been established, the desired on-premises data is securely replicated to the intelligent cloud, where it can be used by the corresponding cloud-based services for helpful evaluations and insights, for example. The produced analyses and results can then be displayed directly within the on-premises Dynamics solution, providing users with effective added value for their daily business.

Qlik Sense: New features with the February release

Qlik Sense February 2019The February version of the data visualization software Qlik Sense has arrived! With the new release Qlik reacts to the wishes of many users with new features.

After the big success of the Dashboard Bundle provided in the November version, Qlik now adds a new Visualization Bundle. The comprehensive package includes seven more visualization types that were previously only available as Qlik Extensions via the open source community. For upcoming releases, Qlik has announced a continuation of its enhancement package strategy. In addition, users can look forward to an improved user interface – also in the mobile area – as well as new advanced authoring features.

With the new visualization package, Qlik Sense February 2019 again offers several new diagram types, which greatly expand the possibilities of data visualization:

  1. Funnel chart – to display the progression of a measure over different stages.
  2. Sankey chart – shows measures as a flow and how they are divided into categories (single- or multi-level).
  3. Radar chart – shows a measure distributed over a polar chart with two category dimensions (one for the axes and one for areas).
  4. Heat Map – represents a matrix of color values with two dimensions and a measure.
  5. Multi KPI Object – equips standard KPI objects with more customization options.
  6. Word Cloud – highlights the most common occurrences in text dimensions.
  7. Network chart – shows a diagram with dimensions for nodes, parents and measures.

Improved user interface

Qlik Sense February 2019 has also been optimized in terms of user experience. For example, the navigation within apps has been simplified by using the “Single Page Application Flow” to switch between data preparation, analysis and data storytelling with just one single click, without having to open new tabs or browser windows.

Advanced authoring features

With the February version, the advanced authoring features will also be further expanded. For example, the new “Share Button” allows the sharing of insights and explicit selections / filters via a direct link. The expression editor has also been equipped with a new dollar sign expansion functionality to evaluate calculation results and thus reduce the risk of syntax errors.

More mobility with Qlik Sense

The version Qlik Sense February 2019 was also improved in terms of mobility. The Qlik Sense Mobile App is now also available for Android devices. The iOS version now also supports mashups. Furthermore, the functions in the EMM (Enterprise Mobile Management) area have been expanded by the support of the fast-growing EMM platform Microsoft Intune. The new Zimperium integration will provide more mobile security in the future.

Helpful features for increased productivity in Dynamics 365 Business Central

The latest release of Microsofts’ ERP software Dynamics 365 Business Central (formerly Dynamics NAV) is on the market for several weeks now – as cloud and on-premise version. With new features and improvements the solution aims to optimize productivity and user experience.

Many of the introduced innovations help to ease working with the software and save time. Especially the new and modern Web Client environment as well as various productivity functions contribute significantly to this.

Improved search, filtering and navigation of list data

For particularly efficient and productive work, it is important to quickly find the required data in the system. Therefore, Business Central offers an improved search. The “Search” field replaces the previous “Search by page or report” field and allows you to search not only for objects such as pages and reports, but also for actions and product documentation, for example. A revised search logic also ensures better results.

Dynamics 365 Business Central: Microsoft announces first details of the April 2019 version

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business CentralIn April Microsoft will release the next version of Dynamics 365 Business Central. Now first official information and news have been published.

Microsoft had previously announced that the April 2019 version will continue to guarantee the user a system that is modern, adaptable and intelligent. About ten weeks before the official release, it was also announced how these requirements should be implemented.

Powerful new functions for business customers

In order to make working with Dynamics 365 Business Central more pleasant for business users, the April 2019 version enables, among other things, more keyboard-centric scenarios. For example, functions such as quick entry and an improved list sorting will be available for faster data entry and analysis.

In addition, the new version offers a number of functions that enable advanced users to understand the work context better and faster. These include, for example, a work date that is displayed directly on the screen in relevant scenarios and an enterprise indicator that facilitates switching between different companies and databases.

Other productivity enhancements include features such as the focus mode for documents, the new page inspector, an improvement of the filters in Excel export and some modern interface elements (e.g. date picker, refreshed action bar and all-product navigation).

Have a flexible and secure start into the cloud with the new Qlik Sense Multi Cloud

Qlik Sense Multi CloudMore and more companies are moving data and applications to public and private clouds to take advantage of scalable data storage and processing. At the same time, there is still a need for local data storage and processing, for example for legacy systems or due to security and compliance regulations.

To address these challenges, Qlik Sense is offering new ways to deploy a multi-cloud architecture since one of its latest releases.

With the new deployment package “Qlik Sense Enterprise for Elastic”, Qlik Sense installations can be flexibly distributed, consumed and managed across a wide range of environments – whether in the cloud or locally. The architecture can be easily and flexibly adapted at any time – depending on how business requirements change over time.

The multi-cloud capabilities were developed to provide users with a unified platform that is easily and economically scalable, irrespective of the different local and cloud infrastructures. Accordingly, all users have a single, common license and login in all environments to make access easy and seamless.

Customers can benefit from the multi-cloud features since the release of Qlik Sense Enterprise June 2018.
